A chance meeting, in 2018, with a few ex-bankers on a warm September evening at Clark Quay over a few cold beers set the wheels in motion for the birth of FinanceGuru.
As an investor in properties and knowing first-hand the pains when it comes to getting the best mortgage deals spurred him to co-found FinanceGuru with Sin Ling. It was decided that FinanceGuru shall be a simple platform for clients to make smart financial decisions when it comes to mortgage, credit cards and/or insurance.
In his leisure time, Mathew enjoys gardening, reading and is heavily addicted to CNN.
Sin Ling graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Estate Management from the National University of Singapore.
A licensed valuer, she started off her career in property valuation and then moved to banks specializing in mortgage loans. For the last 14 years, Sin Ling has been with several leading banks in Singapore doing mortgage loans and her last appointment was Vice President, Mortgage Loans, UOB. Prior to that, she was Asst. Vice President, Mortgage Sales with HSBC. Sin Ling, on her own, has handled more than S$3 billion dollars in loans for her clients.
In cofounding FinanceGuru, Sin Ling wants to ensure that when it comes to making financial decisions, clients should be given all options before making a decision. Passionate and self-driven, Sin Ling strongly believes that all her clients deserve the best.
Outside of work, Sin Ling loves to travel. She believes that traveling broadens her horizons and exposes her to new perspectives. A relaxing vacation rejuvenates and recharges her.
Jasper is a veteran in the mortgage industry. He graduated from Northumbria University with a degree in marketing management.
A former banker, Jasper has more than 10 years experience as a mortgage specialist and financial advisor with one of the leading banks in Singapore. He was also a relationship manager for a while.
Jasper is also a trainer for mortgage accreditation courses and hundreds of mortgage specialists have been coached and mentored by him. His students sing praises of him and FinanceGuru is fortunate to have him on its team.
For Jasper, his greatest pleasure is spending quality time with his family. He believes in the importance of family bonding and abides by the saying “If you want your children to turn out well, spend twice as much time with them and half as much money.”
Lionel is a chartered accountant by training and is a fellow member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), UK. He has more than 12 years of public and commercial accounting experience with large MNCs and SMEs.
A firm believer of the new digital economy #Industry 4.0, Lionel was the Head, Digital and Targeted Acquisition Channels of American Express International Inc. Lionel heads the credit cards section of FinanceGuru.
In his free time, Lionel spends time with his family. He loves to go on trips to see the world with miles accumulated from his card spending.
